Researchers from CISS participated in the conference of the Chilean Society of Biological Anthropology, held at the University of Concepción on November 28 and 29.
In the symposium Social Structures and Biological Anthropology, Nicolás Montalva presented his research titled "Typology of Social Networks of Affiliation, Marriage, and Economic Dependency in Chilean Households." Additionally, Francisca Vásquez shared her study on "Coevolution of Inheritance Patterns and Inequality in Agro-pastoral Communities of Coquimbo."
Meanwhile, in the symposium Biological and Sociocultural Influences on Health and Human Development, Constanza Silva presented "Are Vapes Harmful? The Need to Characterize the Use of These Devices in Chile," highlighting the importance of addressing this issue from a public health perspective.
This event provided an opportunity to reflect on the current challenges in biological anthropology in Chile and explore other lines of research, reinforcing CISS's commitment to generating relevant and applied knowledge.
