A recent study titled "Empowering older adults through yoga: Strategies for effective instruction", conducted by Alexis Sossa, explores how yoga can enhance the physical and mental well-being of older adults. Using an ethnographic approach, the research examines the experiences of both instructors and participants, highlighting the benefits and challenges of yoga practice in later life.

The study underscores the importance of adapting yoga sessions to make them more accessible, incorporating strategies such as:

  • Modifying poses for safety and comfort.
  • Using props (blocks, straps, chairs) to improve stability.
  • Creating an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages participation.

These findings are valuable not only for yoga instructors but also for healthcare professionals, policymakers, and community organizations promoting active aging.
