Teresita Rocha-Jiménez, researcher at the Center for Research in Society and Health (CISS) and Director of the Doctorate in Public Policy at Universidad Mayor, participated as a speaker in the IGH 2025 Global Health Seminar Series, organized by the Institute for Global Health at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
In her presentation titled “Intersectionality, racism, and mental health of migrants arriving at borders in Latin America”, she shared findings from a qualitative study analyzing how migrants arriving at Latin American borders face structural barriers linked to racism, discrimination, and social vulnerability.
The research highlights how these factors impact the mental health of migrant communities and emphasizes the need for intersectional public policies that foster more inclusive and healthy environments.
