Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology and Bioethics, and currently Assistant Professor at Universidad Mayor. I am interested in elucidating the genetic and environmental factors in complex human diseases and their sex/gender differences. My methodological approach uses Big Data to model the effects and interactions between diverse biological systems, such as the genome, metabolome, and exposome. Similarly, my work in bioethics deals with genomics studies in Indigenous Peoples, the development of sex/gender differences studies in biomedicine, and environmental justice.
My previous work has focused on uncovering the genetic architecture in facial morphology and its sex difference. Recently, I have led research on the differential effects of environmental exposures on blood biomarkers between sexes and the differential association of metabolites with Alzheimer's disease progression between sexes. Currently, I am leading research on the identification of sex differences in the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease progression through the use of multi-omics integration and the metabolomics effects of welding fumes and pesticide exposures.
