Dr. Diego Palacios, researcher at the Center for Society and Health (CISS), participated as a speaker at the Social Network Analysis Seminar organized by the Institute of Sociology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and ChiSocNet. In his talk, titled "Health, well-being, and inequality in adolescence: a perspective from social networks", he reviewed previous research, presented the results of his Fondecyt Initiation Project, and introduced new lines of work.

During his presentation, he addressed studies on peer dynamics, perception in networks of liking and disliking, prosocial contagion within classroom networks, and reputational perception in the formation of friendship ties, among others. These studies explore how social structures influence experiences of mental health, school inclusion and exclusion during adolescence. He also shared findings from his Fondecyt Initiation Project, which analyzed the effects of substance use on friendship selection among adolescents and how these friendships influence consumption patterns, as well as future research in this area.

The seminar also featured presentations by Vicente Espinoza (COES), who reflected on social capital and network processes in the production of class inequalities, and Gabriel Otero (UDP), who discussed the relationship between social class, personal networks, and attitudinal change in Chile.
