Sociologist and Master in Educational Psychology from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, he earned his PhD in Sociology from the University of Groningen (Netherlands). His research focuses on understanding how student relationships (e.g., friendships, academic connections, cooperation) are associated with the development of positive behaviors (prosociality, empathy, learning) and negative behaviors (bullying, aggression), as well as contextual factors within classrooms and schools, such as school climate, academic composition, and the normative beliefs of students, teachers, and families. Additionally, he is interested in the application of longitudinal social network models in school settings, which allow for the study of how interpersonal relationships among students are formed, maintained, and dissolved, and how these relationships impact students' behaviors and attitudes.
