On Wednesday, July 30, the final presentation was held for Columbia University students Jaia Wingard and Mahima Agrawal, who spent two months as part of our center’s team as part of their professional internship (APEx), within the framework of the collaboration between the Mailman School of Public Health and the Columbia Global Center Santiago. Representatives from both institutions also participated in the closing session, further strengthening the ties between the organizations involved.
During her internship, Jaia Wingard worked with researcher Alexis Sossa Rojas on a study focused on successful aging in Chile, addressing social and cultural aspects related to well-being in older age. Meanwhile, Mahima Agrawal collaborated remotely on a research project about coalitions of social movements, alongside researcher Natalia Miranda and Diego Palacios, analyzing organizational dynamics and forms of articulation in the Chilean context.
At the closing session, both students presented the results of their research, as well as the methodologies used, the knowledge they gained, personal reflections, and projections for future collaborations in the fields of public health and social sciences.
This initiative is made possible thanks to the partnership between Universidad Mayor and the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University—an academic alliance that continues to grow through joint work and a shared commitment to the development of meaningful and socially relevant research.
