The Society and Health Research Center at Universidad Mayor invites applications to fill two (2) faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor, with an emphasis on research. The first position will focus specifically on drug policy, substance use, addiction, and related fields. The second position will focus more generally on biopsychosocial approaches to advance a broader understanding of health, emphasizing social determinants but without overlooking human biology.
The Center is housed within the Vice Presidency of Research and formally linked with multiple schools and academic programs across the University (https://ciss.umayor.cl/en/). The overarching mission of the Center is to advance well-being at the individual, social, and institutional levels in a context of global demographic, epidemiological, technological, and environmental change. To pursue this mission, the goals of the center are to: (1) conduct world-class interdisciplinary research with real-world implications, (2) train new researchers through the first Doctoral Program in Public Policy in Chile, and (3) disseminate evidence to broad audiences. Our faculty offices are located next to a well-equipped co-work area that we leverage to collaborate with a vibrant community of students and researchers from Chile and abroad.
We seek candidates with a strong publication record and proven capacities to establish research collaborations. Successful candidates must be fluent in English and able to teach in Spanish. The candidates must have a PhD by the time of appointment. Priority will be given to candidates with a record of extramural research funding and the ability to collaborate with our interdisciplinary team (see areas of expertise at http://ciss.umayor.cl/en/about-us) and networks (Millennium Nucleus for the Evaluation and Analysis of Drug Policies and Millennium Nucleus on Sociomedicine). We encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds (e.g., public health, gerontology, sociology, demography, economics, public policy, geography, anthropology, psychology, data science, biostatistics, statistical engineering, information statistics, applied statistics, among others). Core responsibilities include developing research, publishing scientific articles, obtaining extramural funding, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and contributing to teamwork and science dissemination.
This is a permanent contract full-time appointment with a competitive salary plus benefits.
